Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

This policy explains what information App How To Use It (app-how-to-use-it.com) collects when you visit the site, why, and what you can do about it. If you have a question or want to make a request about your data, write to contact@app-how-to-use-it.com.

Site analytics (cookie-free)

We count visits with a self-hosted analytics tool that runs on our own server. It does not set cookies and does not store your IP address. To tell one visit from another on the same day, it creates a one-way hash from your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string and a random value that is thrown away every 24 hours, so the same visitor cannot be recognised on a later day.

For each page view it records the page address, the referring website, campaign tags in the link (if any), your approximate country, device type, browser, operating system and language. It also records clicks on links to other websites and file downloads. Individual records are deleted after 60 days; after that only daily totals remain.

To switch this off in your browser, open any page with ?pgrid-optout=1 added to the address (for example https://app-how-to-use-it.com/?pgrid-optout=1). This stores a single opt-out flag in your browser’s local storage. Adding ?pgrid-optout=0 turns counting back on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and, where you allow it, personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google’s consent message before personalised ads are used. You can change your ad personalisation settings at Google Ad Settings and read how Google uses data from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some articles include YouTube videos. When a page with a video loads, your browser connects to YouTube (Google), which may set cookies and receive your IP address under Google’s privacy policy, even if you do not play the video.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user-agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments are kept until you ask us to delete them.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like any web server, it keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested address, browser user-agent) for security and troubleshooting.

Links to other websites

Articles link to browser extension stores, app stores and other websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies; this policy does not cover them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its use. Because our analytics do not store IP addresses or cookies, we generally cannot link analytics records to a person. For comments or any other request, email contact@app-how-to-use-it.com.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
